Kuraki Mai to appear on Mnet music show

Japanese R&B queen Kuraki Mai, currently visiting Korea, is set to appear on Mnet Media's music show today, according to a press release by the broadcaster on Thursday.

On M! Countdown, the singer will perform her debut single "Love, Day After Tomorrow" and recent Oricon chart topper "beautiful", which was written by a Korean songwriter Song Yang-ha, the statement explained.

The singer, set to give her first concert in Seoul on November 14, is visiting the country beforehand to meet with her fans.

"She is one of the top J-pop artists in Japan, huge in terms of selling concert tickets and albums. It will be a good opportunity for the viewers to see such a top selling J-pop artist perform on stage," the show's director Kim Dong-joon was quoted as saying.

Kuraki debuted in 1999 with the single "Love, Day After Tomorrow", which sold 1.4 million copies in Japan. Since then, she has released 32 single albums -- all of which placed within top 10 of the Oricon charts -- plus nine studio albums and eight DVDs.

Korean singers also appearing on the show today include Park

Hyo-shin, Kim Tae-woo, 4minute, Kara, Epik High and Bada.

The show will be broadcast live from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
